About Me

I'm Martijn, 23 years old. I'm a computer engineer and I make music in my free time. Beyond my inherent enthusiasm, sociability, and playful nature, I possess a profound drive and unwavering passion for the pursuits that define me.

Reasons to hire me

  • My greatest strength is quickly adapting to learn new things, and finding a way to do them as efficiently as possible.
  • I have a lot of programming experience thanks to my professional bachelors degree, as well as a mathematical background due to my studies at UGent.
  • Thinking outside the box and combining my knowledge from different fields.
  • I am used to working in a team.
  • I am definetly not afraid of a challenge.

I really think this job had opened my eyes, as it had even influenced my way of programming.

I taught kids how to play guitar, drums and ukulele at my local music school. I also conducted for the youth brass band.

German Training

I created this app in for two reasons... I wanted to learn German and I wanted to learn electron. The second one went pretty well. Sadly enough, despite all the effort I put in programming this app. I'm not a fluent German speaker yet. I'll get there though! The app is still in development, but you can download the latest version here. The app works for both Mac and Windows.

Epic Gamer Time

A website running on my raspberry pi to turn on my minecraft server using a magic packet.

I later added a live stream to the website (also running on the raspberry pi) showing the actual server it's running on. You can adjust three RGB sliders to change the color of the LED that you can see in the stream. If you scroll down a bit on the website, you can check it out (if my dog didn't eat my router). Be sure to visit the site here.

Taskmanager

An app I created with Java using the SPRING framework. It's a simple task manager. You can add tasks with a date and description. If you'd like you can also add a subtask. Sadly enough, I only have one raspberry pi. So you won't be able to get a hands on demo. Click 'Find out more' to visit the GitHub repo.

Limbo

This was conceived during wire.hack, a hackathon from the company Barco. We were supposed to build something that would help in case of a zombie apocalypse. So we built Limbo (Tinder for zombies). It was our first week of the semester and we've had one class about SPRING. So we thought we knew enough to build an entire app. I must say we kind of overestimated ourselves there, but I've never learned so much about a framework in 24 hours.
